Please understand that your giraffe won't appear immediately.
I need to approve it first to make sure it's not drawn on a computer.

Thanks for understanding.

Everyone can (and should) send in a giraffe!

But you can't use a computer to draw your giraffe!
And you have to make it yourself.

No store bought items or photographs from zoos/safaris.
Anything else goes! And you can create as many giraffes as you want!
You can read more about these rules here if you want to.

You can send me your giraffe in several ways:

Upload
(please use this if you can)
Upload a photo/scan of your giraffes

The easiest way to submit a giraffe is to upload it here! But it won't appear on the website straight away.
I need to approve every giraffe to make sure they're not breaking the rules.

If you have another giraffe, please feel free to upload it now as well:

Woha! Two giraffes? Thank you! Do you have another one?!?

Unfortunantly you can only upload three pictures at a time,
but once these are done, you can add three more!

Can you email me a link to some of your comedy? Cause this is some funny shit man! It's soooo hilarious to think you're that old. Hahahahaha. Wow. You, sir, are funny. I think I'm in love with you. Can you tell? Please email me a youtube clip with your stand-up routine. I would love to see it! This little piece of comedy is solid gold so I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of your material! I love you!!

This, my friend, is not a number, but you're really close! I believe in you!!

(This might not be the city you're from so feel free to change it)

(This might not be the country you' re from so feel free to change it)

E-mail is optional.
I'll email you a direct link to your giraffe when it's out on the site and when I've reached a million

You need to give me at least your name and country. Everything else is optional.

E-mail
E-mail your giraffe to me

Please try to upload your giraffe before you email it to me. Click the text right above that says "Upload". It's much easier for me and your giraffe will be online sooner! If the upload fails you can send your giraffe to onemilliongiraffes@gmail.com. But try uploading first!

Please remember to write your name, age and location somewhere on your drawing or email!

Twitter
Twitter your giraffe to me

You can use @1000000giraffes to send a picture to me. And please twitter about this website, so it spreads around to everyone! If you don't understand any of this, then nevermind. Email it instead!

Please remember to write your name, age and location somewhere on your drawing or tweet!

Regular mail
Mail your giraffe to me

If you're want to send your giraffe to me, please try to collect a few yourself before sending it all the way over here! Ask your wife/husband, girlfriend/boyfriend, parents, children, siblings, grandparents, neighbours, colleagues and strangers to join in on the fun. The more the merrier!

Please use A4 paper (regular size)
and write your name, age, location on the same side as the giraffe(s).
It makes my life much more easier. Then send them to:

Ola Giraffe Helland
Jaergata 13
4012 Stavanger
Norway

Please remember to write your name, age and location on the same side as your drawing!
Please understand that it might take a while before I get a chance to scan your giraffes. I will do it eventually, but if you don't upload them yourself it might take a few days before I get to it. Uploaded giraffes will be published more or less instantly.

I reserve the right to use your submission however I want. I probably won't do anything else than uploading it to this site, but if this project becomes a success I might print a book or something stupid like that.

Please send in your own giraffe!

Giraffe of the day #272
Today's giraffes of the day come from United Kingdom and they're drawn by Donna. This is how every child should learn the alphabet!

17 414 giraffes in one day!
Every now and then I get overwhelmed by the participants in this project. Yesterday was one of those days.

Direct link to this giraffe: http://www.onemilliongiraffes.com/?id=48925.

I can't believe I got 17 414 new giraffes yesterday! If you divide it up (which isn't realistic, but let's do it just for fun) that's one giraffe every five seconds! Delphin and Linnea were two of the big contributors, but I also got my first giraffe from Zambia! A brand new country on the statistic page! Hooray! (It's definitely right on the border of what I can accept, but since it was the first from Zambia, I let it through)

I think it will be hard to beat this new record, but the giraffe lovers never cease to amaze me!

Ehouse: The Zambia giraffe may look a bit crumby, but I think it's the toast of the town. (written 2 days ago)
Susanne: Welcome Zambia, hope to see more giraffes from you in the next 298 days :o) And to the new record; Wow, I think the next day of beating the new record will follow soon... (written 2 days ago)
Kitiamara: Guess the next time we will crack the line of the 20.000 :o) Well done, giraffadores! (written 2 days ago)
Jayelle: Welcome Zambia! Great day for giraffing! I don't suppose everyone can send in enough giraffes to make the final 361,000-ish in the next 6 days??? I think I remember that my guess in the contest was March 15th! Oh well, this is all nice! (written yesterday)
One Million Giraffes: @Jayelle: Yes, your guess was March 15th. I just checked the guessing database and 15 percent of the guesses have already passed! (written yesterday)

Giraffe of the day #271
Today's giraffes of the day come from Norway and they're drawn by Å. Did you catch the Norwegian curling team in the Olympics? They had some pretty cool pants! And Å seems to like them too! Too bad we didn't win the final, but silver is pretty good too...

Ragnar: There's another possible tag - "Sport". I wonder how many different sports the giraffes on this site have been practicing? I suppose some sports would have to be modified. A giraffe swimmer, for instance, would have to take care when diving into the pool so he doesn't hit his head on the other side... (written 2 days ago)
Jayelle: Or on the bottom of the pool. And there is yet another pig! (written yesterday)

Sigma Italy: Whau!! Its beautiful yr cat, ciao ! (written 3 days ago)
Susanne: I would like to know, what your cat did, after this "silent" moment :o) (written 3 days ago)
Mieke: Thanks!! Really cool to see my giraffe and my cat here! Her name is Loesje and she survived another giraffe-attack. :-)
@ susanne; she tried to chew on it for a while, but apparently a giraffe doesn't taste that good.. ;-) (written 3 days ago)
Delphin: What a beautiful cat! And great giraffes, too. (written 3 days ago)
Susanne: :o) Our "diva" has done it the same way... Real "catlike"... And after that she walks like a hero for a little time... I love it. (written 3 days ago)
Jayelle: Ha! The cat looks very irritated by the giraffe attack! Pretty cat, does this cat have six toes? (written 2 days ago)
Mieke: Thank you for your comments!
@Jayelle; I recounted her toes especially for you (which by the way the cat didn't like very much), but she has five toes! :-) (written 2 days ago)
Rianne: I believe I have to talk English here to you sister, so I try! Loesje is a famous cat now! Can I get her autograph? ;) Give Loesje a big hug from me! And congratulations by the way! Lots of love, your sister. (written 2 days ago)
Mieke: Thanks, dear sister! I will try to convince Loesje to give me an autograph, especially for you :-) Lots of love, Mieke. (written yesterday)

Giraffe of the day #269
Today's giraffe of the day comes from USA and it's drawn by Dominique. Why do you think the giraffe is hiding behind the cow? I think it's because he threw a waterballoon at the kid... Or maybe he just wants to fit in? Either way: I love this drawing!

Susanne: Hahaha... I think, the kid has seen all the "cows" in the meadow... And there was something wrong on it... But the kid does not trust his first idea about that... :o) (written 4 days ago)
Delphin: No, it's true love between a cow and a giraffe. The are smooching. :-D (written 4 days ago)
Dominique: I just called my friends and told them I made giraffe of the day... Haha I am so honored. (written 4 days ago)
Ragnar: I think they look more worried. The giraffe is probably just shy and 'hiding' from the kid, and the cow wonders why the giraffe is 'hugging' her. What's mother going to say? (written 3 days ago)
Jayelle: When I first saw this I thought it was a spotted pig... Then I realized that was "utterly" wrong! Congrats Dominique! Nice! (written 2 days ago)

Over 7 000 emails!
I've been lazy with the emails lately and I apologize for that. When I write this I only have 32 that I haven't answered. If that doesn't impress you, take a look at this:

Yes. I have received 7 095 emails!!! And I've answered all of them, except those 32 that I hope to get to by the end of the day. That means that I've gotten on average almost 27 emails every day!

Therefore: I hope you can forgive me that it sometimes takes a while before I can get back to you. But I will! I promise to answer every email. That's the least I could do seeing that you're drawing so many giraffes for me.

Giraffe of the day #266
Today's giraffe of the day comes from USA and it's drawn by Robert. This one made me smile and gave me a craving for a sandwich. Robert is right. It must be lunch time somewhere...

Jayelle: Yummmm - goes along with all the giraffes made out of food! (written one week ago)
Joseph: But what's in the sandwiches? That's what's important! (written one week ago)
Ragnar: The sandwich I'm eating right now contains salami. As for the one waiting to be devoured, I don't know the English word for "prim". By the way, do you know the (supposed) origin of the word sandwich? Cute little story, look it up at Wikipedia or something. (written one week ago)
Jayelle: According to the story that I looked up about sandwich, it was almost possible that we should've been eating ham and cheese "portsmouths"! (written 2 days ago)
